NEEDFUL THINGS...

NEEDFUL THINGS...

Come here for a moment, please…

Now, I have a question for you, but first, let’s lay out some ground rules. Your boo (spouse, mate, bed bunny), children and God are a given – no need to use ‘your wishes’ to include them in your acceptance speech. I gotcha covered. Now...

The question is, “What are three things that you can’t live without?”

Need more help? Okay, if you can’t think of an answer imagine this scenario:…
If right at this second, I told you that the world was going to implode in five minutes and you had that time to grab whatever it was you wanted, then zoom away with me in a rocket ship before the Apocalypse, what three items would you get and dash away with into space?

Now for me, the answers seem to change from year to year, hell, I’ll be honest – mood to mood, but one thing stays consistent – I always want some sort of writing instrument, rather it is paper and pen, or a laptop, I must have an endless supply at my disposal. My need to write and draw must be satisfied, therefore, this is a personal need that requires the proper tools.

So, tell me, what three things can you not live without? The great thing about this question, is that it gives a pretty cool forecast as to where you are in your life. It is a sneak peek at your preoccupations, your passions and dreams. So remember, dream BIG.

  1. Thank you for this post, I never though about this before. So here goes:

If I had to choose three things that I could not live without, what would I choose?

First, I would have to say writing instruments (pens and paper or my laptop). I am a writer. I always have been and I will always be a writer. As a child I was extremely shy and really did not talk to people unless I was comfortable. So, I found that I loved to write. I could write whatever I wanted to and not speak to people. Now, don't get me wrong, I love people and being around them but when I was younger people made me feel weird, maybe I was. Hell, I still am. I am okay with that! I used writing as an outlet and it freed me. I could not live without being able to write. No matter the subject, topic, or length, I have to write. I am not the most vocal person and I feel that I best express myself through writing. I am such an introvert and because of this it is hard for me to open up sometimes, especially if it is something I feel is too personal to share. So, I would definitely have something that will allow me to put my thoughts down...even if I am the only one who sees them.

The second thing I would choose is my Nook or Tablet. I feel that writers become better writers by being avid readers. Simple as that.

The final thing I choose is my Nikon D3100. I love photography. I love capturing people, buildings, and animals. Photography allows me to capture my journey through life. My mind is sharp, but I can not remember everything, place, and person I have and will ever see. Through photography, I can capture these images and carry them with me as long as I live (and have sight). Also, I enjoy how photography changes the way we see things. I may think that I am taking a picture of a simple image but once it is captured and take a look at that image, what you thought you took a picture of is transformed. You notice different colors, textures, shapes, lights, etc. The great thing about art is that everyone's perspective is different. 10 people can look at the same image and each will interpret it differently. The most fascinating aspect of it is that it transcends language and cultures. It enables people to communicate whether they speak the same language or not. Photography inspires me to write and also allows me to read images. Finally, I love photography because I see beauty in everything and want to capture that beauty in the moment in which I saw it.
